This is perhaps one of my favourite albums ever. It's title is a made-up word I can just say pronounce and it's by an artist with a name that raises brows any time I mention it. What could be better? nothing, that's what. I had initially came across it with the song 'comment te dire adieu?', funnily enough it was this album's version I had heard first before Francois Hardy's version though I think I had heard Jun Togawa's さよならを教えて before either though I hadn't linked any of them as being technically the same song until I heard Hardy's version. (Back on Topic now) I am generally very fond of experimental music and sounds so I'm not surprised I enjoy this album so much. I like the mix of genres and even different sounds between hard and soft in the album (as well as '2 More Heads Sprouted!' though that definitely doesn't have the same softness lol). I think, personally, some of my favorite tracks are 'Paradise' and 'New year's snow' - there's a certain softness to them that I'm unsure of how I want to describe. In addition, I have a big love for 'Nido', I love how it starts off with that sort of soft sound and then the move into this heavy-feeling electric guitar solo is absolutely fucking salivatingly gorgeous. Just if you ever feel like it I'd recommend giving it a listen.
Did you know my favourite book is steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse. I first read maybe two or so years back. I had sent my sister out to buy me a different book but she forgot which one and happened to end up returning with a copy of this instead. I think about it often; it was just odd enough to stick in my mind haha - specially the ending that really held on. Since then I've come to read more of Hesse's work and aside from Steppenwolf, I think Augustus is another high contender for my favourite.
I've been thinking about gimps recently in like an aesthetical sense. I understand people tend to look at them quite oddly for you know like their (very fair) association with sexual fetishism but like the same I think think they're kind of like high fashion in some sort of sense. I'm thinking it be kind of to do with usage of latex and vinyl considering them as unconventional material maybe I dunno. On that note, I'm sort of reminded of the Louis Vuitton f/w 2011 rtw collection, which presented a particular intersection between fetishism and fashion. There's a pair of shoes from that collection, fetish pumps, that I really like; I love them so much visually. Like I'm never getting a pair way too skint for that but honestly I'd be so happy if I ever came across a pair like the white with the little black bows - they're so cute!! Also on the note of fetish and fashion, I think of Louboutin and David Lynch's 'Fetish' mostly because of the shoes from it. Obviously, they were not meant to be walked in like the entire intention was to throw comfort and practicality right out of the windown but nevertheless they are cool to look at. I also really like the related photography too.
